Here is a list of freeway construction activities that Hopkins County residents should be aware of.

Beginning Monday, September 5, Delong Concrete will close the bridge at Pond Creek on US-41A at MP 6.78 to undergo bridge deck restoration and waterproofing. The closure will be in place until mid-October 2022. The closure is to allow the contractor to repair and pour a new bridge deck. In addition to the lane restriction, temporary signals will be installed while this work is being done to facilitate vehicular traffic.

Yesterday, a contractor closed the bridge at US-41A at MP 6.78 over Pond Creek to allow for repairs and to pour new bridge deck restoration and waterproofing. The maximum lane width is 12 feet for all lanes.

CSX Railroad experienced a gauge failure at the State Route 260 crossing in Hanson. The crossing will be closed for an emergency road closure on Wednesday September 14 and is expected to reopen on Thursday September 15. Motorists may need to seek alternate routes while this work is being carried out.

Work on pavement defects on I-69 in Hopkins County has begun. The work area is between Mortons Gap and Dawson Springs between MP 95.6 and MP 105.04, a distance of 9.44 miles. The work is scheduled to be completed this fall.

The first part of US 41-A/Nebo Road in Madisonville has been completed and the second phase is underway. Crews are clearing trees and brush for the highway to be widened. This work will be part of the newly constructed 5-lane section that has already been constructed and will include grading, drainage and surfacing work as well as replacement of the railway bridge. Drivers will see improvements on US 41-A/Dixie Highway/Nebo Road from Industrial Drive to Yorkwood Place.

Traffic will change to one lane in each direction on I-69 between mileposts 96.0 and 105.5 to prepare for the improvements. The work area is between Ilsley Road and the WK Parkway/Pennyrile Parkway interchange. The work is scheduled to be completed this fall.
