Special to the OBSERVER

Construction work is underway at the sports complex next to Dunkirk Middle & High School on Sixth Street. This construction contributes to some essential drainage works as part of a capital improvement project.

The pipe had been in poor condition for a few years and was causing flooding problems in the middle and high school basements.

Crews will use heavy equipment to move piping to complete this job.

Due to the nature of the construction there may be some minor traffic disruptions including intermittent road closures. Students and community members may also see closed sidewalks.

Construction is expected to take around six weeks and end in the New Year. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our Director of Buildings, Lands and Transportation, Tim Abbey at 716-366-3189.
